Some say YES, some say NO! Harry Potter does not take place in cities, rather isolated (for the most part) in a fantastical magic school, so it misses some of the gritty reality that urban fantasy brings.

What is the difference between historical fiction and fantasy?
Contemporary Fantasy is Fantasy set in present time (or the present time of the author) and in our own world. Urban fantasy is the same with the difference that it is specifically set in a city or a densely populated area.
